History
In 1983, Clyde “Bud” Wagner, had a vision of building the finest condominium project in the State of Hawaii. Many people think he accomplished that with Wailea Point. His son, Dave Wagner, became the Project Manager for Wailea Point development. The official ground breaking ceremony was held on November 30, 1984. All 130 units were either sold or under contract by the project completion in March 1988. People were and still are enchanted by the beauty and serenity of Wailea Point. The property has been the recipient of numerous awards and has attained international acclaim for its quality of design, materials and workmanship.
The Property
Wailea Point’s unique oceanfront location, in the heart of Wailea’s finest properties, provides breath-taking ocean views. This picturesque and luxurious environment sets this property apart from others. Protected by a rocky lava coastline and nestled between two of the world’s most famous beaches–Wailea Beach and Polo Beach, this 26.4-acre property gently slopes upward from the ocean to provide optimal views. Wailea Point’s low density, with just over 4 units per acre provide the owners with open space and lush manicured gardens, unfamiliar in newer developments. Owners can also enjoy the luxury of their immediate neighbors, the Four Seasons Wailea Resort and the Fairmont Kea Lani Hotel and the 5-star dining and lifestyle they offer.
Construction and Remodeling
Wailea Point’s outstanding quality is evident in the amount of concrete and steel used in the construction. Structural walls are constructed with 8-inch thick, steel reinforced concrete. Structural flooring consists of 3-4 inches thick, pre-pressed, precast planks, plus a 3 inch-thick steel reinforced concrete topping. When constructed, clear grade Western Red Cedar ceilings were used throughout the units. The structures are unsurpassed in strength and durability. Excellence at its best!
The high level of construction has been exemplified by many owners who have undertaken extensive remodels to modernize their units to today’s trends. Most owners work with the finest designers, contractors and craftsmen who incorporate the most contemporary ideas, finishing materials, electronics and appliances.
